Adobe releases Photoshop Lightroom 2
Adobe Systems Incorporated announced the release of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2, which allows photographers to easily manage, edit and display large volumes of digital photos. With enhancements such as dual monitor support, local image correction, and the ability to search within files, Lightroom 2 makes the photographer’s job a lot easier – from start to finish. Lightroom 2 is the first Adobe application to support 64-bit Mac OS X 10.5 and Microsoft Windows® Vista® so it has improved RAM handling for large photo processing.
“Photographers around the world have given us valuable advice and guidance during the Lightroom 2 Open Beta to help us create the best possible product,” said Tom Hogarty, Senior Product Manager for Lightroom and Camera Raw at Adobe. “We used their offerings to provide features that help our clients quickly edit, enhance and display outstanding quality photos.”.
Photoshop Lightroom 2: Smarter, Faster, More Accurate
Improved Library module in Lightroom 2 helps photographers organize and speed up their work. By visually sorting images across different hard drives, Lightroom 2 and the built-in Library filter panel allow users to quickly find the photos they want. Automatic tagging helps photographers sort photos based on previous user actions. New dual-monitor support expands your workspace, giving you more options for organizing your photo workflow.
With the Develop Adjustment Brush, photographers can edit specific parts of images to precisely match the color, exposure, and tone of images. New Gradient filter allows you to apply gradually changing effects of exposure, clarity and saturation individually or in any possible combination. Lightroom 2 also improves the photo printing experience by automatically arranging the layout of different sized photos on one or more pages, thereby saving printer paper and ink. Intelligent algorithms automatically determine the sharpness of images needed for printing or screen. Developers can extend Lightroom with the Web, Export, and Metadata Software Development Kits available on the Adobe Developer Connection.
Revolutionary innovation in RAW technology
New raw technology gives photographers access to a variety of camera profiles. Camera settings are the starting point for processing raw photos, but image settings may vary from user to user. To minimize any surprises, Adobe provides camera profiles that let you look at a photo as if through the lens of your favorite camera. Profiles designed for use in Lightroom 2 and Camera Raw 4.5, available for download from the Adobe Labs website (http: // labs.adobe.com) along with the DNG Profile Editor, with which users can create their own profiles.
Adobe Camera Raw 4 Plugin. and DNG Converter 4.5, supporting over 190 camera models, including the Olympus E 420 and E 520, also available on the Adobe website.com.
