PayPal will block access from Safari?
Users of the Apple Safari web browser in the future may lose the ability to carry out transactions through the PayPal payment system.
PayPal’s director of cyber security, Michael Barrett, says the current danger of being caught by phishing hackers is so great that the company simply cannot afford to use unsafe browsers. “In our opinion, allowing PayPal through such a browser is like allowing a car manufacturer to sell their cars without seat belts,” Barrett writes. Previously, the company has already listed Safari in the list of programs that do not have adequate protection against phishing and do not support EV SSL (Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer) certificates.
According to Barrett, the company is currently reworking procedures for working with “unsafe” browsers, after which access to PayPal from some of these programs will be blocked. It is worth noting that, like Safari, Opera and Firefox web browsers also do not support EV SSL (Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer), but their developers (unlike Apple) announced the start of work on supporting this technology.
