Cypress Adds 2 & 8 Mbit Products to nvSRAM Family
Cypress Semiconductor Introduces Non-Volatile Static Random Access Memory (nvSRAM) ICs with 2 and 8 Mbit Density. Thus, Cypress’s assortment now includes nvSRAM products with a density from 16 Kbps to 8 Mbps.
The microcircuits received the designations CY14B102 and CY14B108. They are fully compatible with SRAM, Battery Backup SRAM, EPROM and EEPROM. New memory access time is 20 ns. The number of read and write cycles is not limited. In the absence of power, Cypress nvSRAM memory can store information for 20 years.
The peculiarity of nvSRAM memory is that in the event of a power failure, data is copied from SRAM cells to non-volatile elements. After power is applied, data is automatically restored to SRAM from non-volatile memory. Both operations can also be performed programmatically. In terms of cost and reliability, nvSRAMs outperforms MRAM and FRAM. For its production, the 0.13-μm process technology Cypress S8 SONOS (Silicon Oxide Nitride Oxide Silicon) is used.
Samples of CY14B102 and CY14B108 are currently available in 48-pin FBGA, 44-pin and 54-pin TSOPII packages. The manufacturer includes servers, RAID applications, industrial automation, automotive electronics, medical devices and communications to the areas of application of new products.
