DRAM starts to rise in price
The situation in the dynamic random access memory (DRAM) market began to change towards higher prices.
With reference to DRAMeXchange, the source cites data indicating the beginning of a rise in contract prices for DRAM. Most DRAM chips saw a 3% price increase over first half of the month. Experts explain this by a certain reduction in supplies associated with difficulties in the transition of Korean and Taiwanese manufacturers to the production of products at 66 and 70 nm, respectively. However, the DRAM manufacturers themselves are not yet confident that the price increase will be significant.
The situation with 1 and 2 GB modules is noteworthy. The ratio between these types of products leveled off as prices fell and in the first quarter was 2: 1. On average, one finished system had 1.7 GB. This value is expected to reach 2 GB in the second half of the year.
