I previously purchased access to Autodesk Mudbox mac through a linked Amazon. com account. One day, the Amazon Mudbox subscription was no longer available, so I needed to buy a subscription directly from Autodesk instead. I bought a year long subscription to Mudbox. I recieved a new serial number and successfully entered it several times. A little green checkmark appeared indicating that it was correct, but the screen would just keep asking for the serial number.

Finally it worked, but Mudbox would then just crash upon opening. I decided to try re-downloading Mudbox and re-installing it. Now the problem is that the program just closes automatically as soon as I click it, without leaving any error messages. Go to Solution. Solved by jill. I’m having an identical problem with the latest update to Mudbox I installed it and now Mudbox will not launch. The icon bounces in the Dock as if it’s about to launch and then it just crashed, repeatedly.

I’ve done a clean uninstall and reinstalled, nothing works. So, how exactly was this problem “solved”? It actually hsn’t been solved- I just marked the solution as having someone from technical support contact me via email, but their solution didn’t solve the problem. Right now, I can only get Mudbox to launch. I have the exact same issue…Mudbox works fine but just bounces up and down in the dock for a few seconds and then disappears; nothing ever appears on the screen.

Very frustrating. installed mudbox update, and now mud box will not start on my mac pro running El Capitan. No, this issue has not been resolved.

A tech person got in touch with me and he did a screen share and really didn’t do anything much. I believe that a file or files are being installed that somehow interfere with the licensing process. I upgraded my computer to sierra thinking it would clear some system files but that didn’t solve the problem. I did just as an experiment install mud box on my laptop running sierra, it has no other autudesk apps installed, nor did it ever.

And mudbox ran just fine. So that leaves me to believe that there are existing autodesk files from previous installments of Maya and Mudbox that are interfering with the install of the mudbox update. All of this has been shared with autodesk tech support, but, sadly, they’ve gone silent. How long has it been since people have been complaining about this? No fixes? Nor suggestions or workarounds? do we have an ETA on when autodesk Tech team is going to post a solution to this very frustrating issue?

Removing Mudbox and reinstalling won’t fix the problem. There are files installed in various places throughout the system so just trashing the main app folder won’t help. Mt last discussion with tech support was on Wednesday when I was told that they were aware of the problem and were working on it and would get beck to me by the end of the week guess what, I didn’t hear from them.

I’m also confused by the following: When I installed the latest update to Mudbox , I still had Mudbox on my machine. Initially, although Mudbox wouldn’t start, Mudbox did! Unfortunately, Maya doesn’t “see” Mudbox which is another issue; that seems ridiculous to me.

When the tech person did a screen share with me he deleted all the old autodesk apps I had on my machine previous versions of Maya and all Mudbox installs. That didn’t help at all reinstalling Mudbox didn’t help. On my own I re installed Mudbox , and although it worked before it no longer would start either.

This is very frustrating, indeed. And deserves more attention from Autodesk than it’s apparently getting. However I removed only mudbox I kept and , I keep those installed in case I have trouble with some files from work. I reinstalled clean both the original release of or at the least I think that is what that is now, unless autodesk updated that too. Tomorrow morning I will ask my reseller if they know anything more about this since autodesk is not responding to this.

btw are you running Sierra or El Capitan? I am not sure if that makes any difference I usually wait few months before a full upgrade of the system. From my experience it makes no difference. I was running El Capitan when this issue occurred. I had working copies of both maya and mudbox running just fine. Then autodesk made available updates to both: Maya update 2 and mudbox I installed both, first Maya then mudbox. Maya continued to work just fine but mudbox wouldn’t open.

At the time I also had an install of mudbox on my machine, and it continued to work fine. Just for the heck of it I installed mudbox with the latest update on my laptop that had been upgraded to sierra but had no previous installs of any autodesk products. It works just fine in that environment, so the version of OS X is not the issue.

On the hopes that an update to sierra on my desktop would help I reluctantly upgraded to sierra on it. Maya continues to run just fine. I installed a fresh copy of mudbox and it still won’t open. And I did a reinstall of mudbox , which worked before, but now it won’t open.

at least that’s my no-nothing theory. It explains having no problem with MB prior to installing the latest update and also explains why it runs fine on my laptop, which had no previous autodesk files on it. My further theory is that if you could do a complete removal of ALL autodesk files and truly start fresh things might go back to working.

In the system in various invisible folders, etc. Autodesk tech support has been of limited help and it’s not clear to me they’re putting much effort into fixing this.
