To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. i have a question. I’m living in Germany and bought a pre-owned iwork 09 in the original box and installed it into my MacBook Pro. After trying to upgrade to the newest version the following message came up.

Is there any possibility to get the newest version anyway as i have the original pack and CD and be therefore the legal owner of this licensed product. As I bought my MacBook some months prior the date after every new Apple device comes with a free version of iWorks I’m unfortunately not entitled to the free version.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite Posted on Oct 20, PM. Page content loaded. Oct 20, PM in response to Pykaner In response to Pykaner.

That needs to be released for you to register it. Oct 20, PM. Nov 2, PM in response to Pykaner In response to Pykaner. Did you figure it out yet? Aside from what Ralph Landry1 said there are other reasons why you get this message.

Specifically related to the Yosemite will not let you upgrade the 4. I have some information for you. Of course, there are other solutions too! One way is to upgrade to the “new” version from the iWork ’09 before the then you will be all good! So if you upgrade while using OS It works with both the original AND the copy with two separate Apple ID’s on two separate iMacs that are not linked in any way.

I have more ideas but see if you can do this first because my other ideas are theoretical and untested by me personally. There is another plus that you have the CD version you can have both versions of Pages on your I have not had enough time with the new Pages to complain yet! I do not like the idea that Apple removed any “everyday” features and then added a few back in after many complaints.

I guess there are still a lot of features lacking I just use it for basic stuff though. Invoices, letters, brochures and flyers. I had no idea what the heck “text block linking” was until I read all of the chatter. Actually, I did not even know that I could do most of the stuff that they took out!!

Do I get to here it comes Do I get to miss what I can’t do now, when I could have done before, but didn’t, because I didn’t know I could? I am getting angry just SAYING it!! Nov 2, PM. Nov 5, PM in response to BobDrummer In response to BobDrummer. I’ve got a Macbook that has a clean install of Yosemite on it and I installed iWork 09 from the original disk, it suffers the same problem as above.

I have a complete boot bale back up of the machine from before the upgrade, but it was in Snow Leopard then. Even if I upgrade that backup to Mavericks and get it to update iWork ’09 to what ever version it can, it’ll update the version on that drive, not the one that Yosemite is running from. How did you manage to switch between is versions but have them updating the same copy of iWork? Nov 5, PM. Nov 6, PM in response to Craig Stanton In response to Craig Stanton. Did you try it? I mean try updating your iWork apps from snow leopard, then try in Short answer If I understand what you are asking a fter doing a clean install of I assume it is an oversight by Apple and they will eventually fix it.

I don’t know or care, i guess how to report stuff to them. But read further for more info if you want if it helps? I don’t know exactly what you mean by the “same copy”, but, y ou can transfer stuff with a partitioned HD also not just an external it will show up. just for clarity, I installed Yosemite I REALLY need to get a fast Firewire drive someday!! that’d be really fast! I just don’t really do this stuff very often. As long as you update with your Apple ID pre I have read in this forum that you need to install a little patch to get a clean install from your iWork ’09 to work with I think it is DL if I remember correctly but easily searchable.

IF you just update your OS not clean install from I know weird, huh?! after updating your iWork 09 you will have the original in your apps folder also so Pages 4. x will both be there. Please let me know if you can install iWork ’09 on a clean install of I know that even if I do this I will have to search the apple support to get to the latest versions but I was just curious I already have both Pages 4. Ditto for the others. They all work. Woo hoo!!! I don’t have to miss what I can’t do now in 5.

it did not affect me in the least!! But I am not as smart a all of these people who know how to use all of the features. dum hillbilly mae ain’t no dummer den a I meen I ain’t no smerter den a how’d dat dere saying’ go? aw heck, I ain’t even rembrin’ what I ain’t dummer nor smarter den! I be dummer den da dum thang dat I can’t rember whuteve it were. When I first updated to Yosemite from But, alas, my My Mavericks suffered from the same slow weirdness so I figured it just carried over.

I haven’t done a clean instal since my original software on my iMac just updates. That is why I did a clean install. So far all good!!!
